How to Use

1. Layer the materials. Place your finished tufted piece face-down. Smooth the mesh and backing into this order: back of tufted piece → Hot Melt Adhesive Mesh → backing fabric.
2. Protect anti-slip backing. If you are using anti-slip backing, place a thin, plain cotton cloth between the iron and the anti-slip backing. This protects the anti-slip particles from direct heat and helps prevent them from melting.
3. Preheat the iron. Set it to approximately 125–135°C. Different irons transfer heat differently, so test a small area first.
4. Press from the centre out. Start in the centre and work section by section towards all four edges. Press each area for approximately 10–14 seconds. This guides trapped air outwards and helps reduce bubbles in the middle.
5. Cool and check. Leave the piece flat until fully cooled, then gently check that the backing is evenly bonded. Cover and re-press any loose area if needed.

Using anti-slip backing?

Iron → thin cotton protection cloth → anti-slip backing → Hot Melt Adhesive Mesh → back of tufted piece

Important: Never place the iron directly onto exposed adhesive mesh. Melted adhesive can stick to the soleplate and be difficult to remove.
